CATARACT & IOL

Cataract

Cataract is opacification of the normally clear lens of eye. Most commonly, it develops with age. Other causes can be post uveitis, trauma to the eye, childhood cataracts, metabolic diseases etc. Cataracts often develop slowly and can affect one or both eyes.

When to go ahead for Cataract Surgery?

Once you find it difficult to do your routine day to day activities such as driving, watching television, reading books etc, consider getting an appointment with an eye doctor. Also, when there’s repeated change in your glasses or no improvement with glasses, a cataract surgery can be planned after ruling out other diseases of the eye.
